This is the second year in a row that Skellefte\u00e5 Airport has reached over 400,000 passengers.<\/strong> Compared to the record year 2017 with almost 422,000 passengers, domestic traffic decreased by three percent in 2018 to 383,000, but at the same time international traffic increased by three percent to 25,800 passengers. -I am happy that we reached over 400,000 passengers. The number of passengers is the second highest we have had and a doubling compared to 2009, which was the last year the airport was operated under state management, says Robert Lindberg, CEO of Skellefte\u00e5 Airport. 2019 will be an exciting year for Skellefte\u00e5 Airport with both challenges and opportunities. During the summer, the runway will be extended by 420 meters to 2,520 meters, which opens up the airport for both larger aircraft such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and for smaller planes without reversing. While domestic travelers are expected to decline in 2019 due to Norwegian&#039;s exit, there is an increasing demand and supply for direct flights abroad from Skellefte\u00e5 Airport. There is also great potential for inbound traffic from Europe.
