{"id":837,"date":"2024-06-27T09:25:14","date_gmt":"2024-06-27T09:25:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/skellefteaairport.se\/norwegian-lanserar-direktflyg-till-skelleftea\/"},"modified":"2025-08-06T05:05:20","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T05:05:20","slug":"norwegian-launches-direct-flights-to-skelleftea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/skellefteaairport.se\/en\/norwegian-launches-direct-flights-to-skelleftea\/","title":{"rendered":"Norwegian launches direct flights to Skellefte\u00e5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Norwegian continues to develop its route network and today launches direct flights between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Skellefte\u00e5.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>The launch takes place in conjunction with Norwegian&#039;s CEO Geir Karlsen participating in Almedalen Week in Visby, where he will meet representatives from Skellefte\u00e5 Municipality, among other things.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 The development in Skellefte\u00e5 with many companies investing heavily in the region increases the need for good accessibility to the outside world. Currently, there is a limited range of flights to and from Skellefte\u00e5 and it is therefore pleasing that we can announce today that we will start flying between Stockholm and Skellefte\u00e5, says Norwegian&#039;s CEO Geir Karlsen.<\/p>\n<p>The rapid growth means that there is a great need for more direct flights to the region. The business community is developing with both new companies and expansions of existing businesses. The number of residents in Skellefte\u00e5 is expected to increase from today&#039;s almost 78,000 to 90,000 people by 2030 and to 100,000 by 2040.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013Skellefte\u00e5 is the municipality that has grown the most in terms of population in Sweden during the first part of the year. It is also the one where the most investment is made per capita. Having a good infrastructure for travel is an important piece of the puzzle in the entire societal transformation, so it is gratifying that Skellefte\u00e5 Airport and Norwegian can present this establishment today, says Kristina Sundin Jonsson, Municipal Director of Skellefte\u00e5.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Skellefte\u00e5&#039;s rapid growth requires good accessibility to the outside world. Here at Skellefte\u00e5 Airport we see a good influx of passengers and thus a space to be able to expand traffic with a new player. I know that this is important news for the business community, the residents and the tourism industry in Skellefte\u00e5, says Robert Lindberg, CEO of Skellefte\u00e5 Airport.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the new line:<br \/>\n<\/strong>The direct line between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Skellefte\u00e5 will operate five days a week; on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays starting October 28, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Norwegian operates an extensive route network and offers 340 routes to over 120 destinations during the summer.
