Sunday March 26th saw the launch of Norwegian’s new domestic service between Skellefteå and Stockholm Arlanda. This three daily service is the largest domestic city pair capacity increase to be witnessed in Sweden for many years. For the first time since 2010 there will now be two carriers with daily services between Skellefteå and Stockholm.
The region of Skellefteå is in a strong growth phase and in total Norwegian will offer the market some 850 new departures annually, equivalent to about 320 000 new seats. Overall, this is a doubling of the current seat capacity in the market.
– We are very glad to welcome Norwegian to Skellefteå Airport, said Robert Lindberg, CEO, Skellefteå Airport, which sees a bright future ahead. Seen in the light of the extensive investment phase in Skellefteå Airport, paired with region’s large export industry, the benefits of two airlines in the form of improved access to Stockholm and beyond is greater than the value of low cost tickets, continues Robert.
Norwegian will operate three daily flights from Skelleftea to Arlanda which not only provides the market with more seats to Stockholm but also gives passengers access to many of Norwegians domestic and international services.
– We are very pleased to offer the people of Skellefteå the opportunity to fly cheaply to Stockholm in our new modern aircraft with high comfort and free WiFi. With our global network and good connectivity in Stockholm, they can easily travel out into the world to one of our 150 destinations in Europe, the USA, Thailand, the Middle East or North Africa, says Norwegian’s Head of Communications Charlotte Holmbergh Jacobsson.
