New rules
From April 29, 2010 there are new rules according to the EU Regulation 300/2008.
You no longer need to show ID card when you check in your baggage.
You must have a boarding pass to go through security. The airlines can make an exception to parent/guardian of unaccompanied children and persons with reduced mobility.
Note: Please be aware that other EU countries may have stricter rules than these.
Check of personal identity
When traveling in countries of the Schengen cooperation is, typically, no personal chontrol, but you still have to show identity papers. When traveling to countries not included in the Schengen agreement there are personal control and you must always be able to show identity papers.

SIS-marked ID card and service card
Driving license
Passport and national identity card
