If compared to 2019, which was the last normal year before the corona pandemic, the number of travelers increased by 2,123 people or +8.4 percent.
International travel has also increased, mainly through more charter flights. This means that the total number of passengers amounted to 28,852 people, which is an increase of
+7,589 (+35.7 percent) compared to last year and +2,314 (+8.7 percent) more than in 2019.
Starting with the summer program, which started at the end of March, there has also been an expansion and certain adjustments to the traffic offer.
SAS has significantly increased the number of flights and operates the Skellefteå – Stockholm route with up to five daily departures.
Ryanair has increased the number of departures from three to five per week and the airline BRA has adapted its schedule more to local needs with arrivals and departures every Thursday and Sunday.
– We are very grateful for the rapid recovery. The Skellefteå region is in an expansive phase with many investment projects and our mission is to help the region's companies and residents get good air communications. 2023 is currently looking very positive with expansions in both domestic and international traffic, says Robert Lindberg, CEO of Skellefteå Airport.
