Strong start for Skellefteå Airport

During March, a total of 28,852 travelers traveled to or from Skellefteå Airport.
This is 7,589 (+35.7%) more than last year, but also 2,314 (+8.7%) more than in 2019, the last comparable normal year before the coronavirus pandemic.

Skellefteå Airport is one of the fastest recovering airports in Sweden after the corona pandemic. Now that the traffic figures for March have been presented, they show that the airport’s strong development continues.
Domestically, 27 388 people traveled to or from Skellefteå in March. This is an increase from 2022 of 6 509 people or +31.2%.
Compared to 2019, which was the last normal year before the corona pandemic, the number of travelers increased by 2,123 people or +8.4 percent.
International travel has also increased, mainly due to more charter departures. This means that the total number of passengers amounted to 28 852 people, which is an increase of
+7 589 (+35.7%) compared to last year and +2 314 (+8.7%) more than in 2019.

From the summer program, which started at the end of March, there has also been an increase and some adjustments to the service offer.
SAS has greatly increased the number of flights and operates the Skellefteå – Stockholm route with up to five daily departures.
Ryanair has increased the number of departures from three to five per week and the airline BRA has adapted its schedule more to local needs with arrivals and departures every Thursday and Sunday.

– We are very grateful for the quick recovery. The Skellefteå region is in an expansive phase with many investment projects and our mission is to help the region’s companies and residents to get good air communications. 2023 currently looks very positive with expansions on both domestic and international traffic, says Robert Lindberg, CEO of Skellefteå Airport.
