Strong start for Skellefteå Airport

In 2017, passengers at Skellefteå Airport increased by 50 percent.
Now that the statistics for January 2018 have been presented, it can be seen that this rate of increase continues. Skellefteå Airport increased the number of passengers during January by
9,610 travelers, which corresponds to 47 percent.

In 2018, Skellefteå Airport will break several records. Never before has the airport had so many departures, so many airlines or so many destinations. In addition, the passenger record from 2017 will probably be broken.

– Good air communications are extremely important for our region's growth and development. The development we have had has meant new opportunities for us to travel around the world or for the outside world to come to Skellefteå and Swedish Lapland, says Robert Lindberg, CEO of Skellefteå Airport.

2018 will be marked by major renovations and investments. Plans include an expansion of the runway and a rebuilt airport terminal.

– We have expanded the parking areas, but we could not predict the fantastic increase and are now bringing forward certain investments. The extension of the runway is planned for this summer, but we have already begun planning work for an expanded terminal that will be able to handle future passenger volumes and traffic to several different destinations, says Robert Lindberg.
