Skellefteå Airport continues to break records and in March traffic increased by 32 percent compared to the same month in 2017. During the first quarter of 2018, Skellefteå Airport had 96,858 passengers, which is approximately 26,000 more than during the same period in 2017, giving an increase so far this year of 37 percent.
In 2017, Skellefteå Airport became Sweden's largest regional airport and had the third-best growth rate in Europe in some months last year. At the end of 2017, Skellefteå Airport reported an incredible increase of 141,000 passengers compared to 2016, a growth of more than 50 percent. With the positive figures now reported for March, Skellefteå Airport has had strongly increasing passenger numbers since November 2016.
