The charter company TUI is greatly increasing its departures from Skellefteå Airport to the Greek island of Rhodes in 2023. During the period 19/5 - 16/6 and 4/8 - 22/9 2023, a total of 13 departures will be available from Skellefteå Airport.
Travel from and to Skellefteå is growing. This is primarily due to the region's expansive growth but also to pent-up travel demand after the pandemic. The growth combined with strong demand means different conditions for travel. Therefore, the charter operator TUI has decided to expand its departures from Skellefteå Airport by introducing 13 new departures corresponding to 2,500 seats.
– It is very pleasing that TUI is choosing to invest heavily in Skellefteå, where our geographical location combined with growth makes us the perfect charter airport in northern Sweden. In addition, Rhodes is a very popular destination that we are now giving more people the opportunity to visit, says Skellefteå Airport CEO Robert Lindberg.
Next month, the winter season's direct flights to Gran Canaria with TUI will start, and the travel company is now looking forward to also being able to offer travel alternatives to the Mediterranean during the summer.
– Of course, we want to be part of the exciting development that Skellefteå is experiencing and therefore it feels incredibly exciting that we now have the chance to expand our offering from Skellefteå Airport with trips to Rhodes, says Ronja Jakobsson, communications officer at TUI.
