2023 was the third best year ever for Skellefteå Airport.
347,430 passengers traveled to or from Skellefteå last year, which is an increase of 79,914 passengers (+30%) compared to 2022 and of 60,351 passengers (+17%) compared to 2019.
2023 was a successful year for Skellefteå Airport.
The airport is today one of the few in Sweden that shows growth that is higher than in 2019, before the corona pandemic.
The increase is due to strong regional development with many new industrial establishments where good air connections with the outside world are extremely important.
Skellefteå Airport is currently one of Sweden's fastest growing airports and development is expected to continue.
– From 2024 onwards, we expect increased growth due to strong regional growth.
In 2024, several new charter destinations and a new direct international route to Gdansk will start, and there is also great interest from airlines to operate to Skellefteå, says Robert Lindberg, CEO of Skellefteå Airport.
Another detail is that 2,488 movements (takeoffs and landings) were carried out with electric aircraft at Skellefteå Airport during 2023, which likely places the airport among the top in the world with the most flights with electric aircraft.
– At Skellefteå Airport, Green Flight Academy has established its world-unique sustainable pilot training where a large part of the training takes place with electric aircraft.
We are incredibly proud to be a pioneer and enabler of electric aviation and other sustainable air transport, says Robert Lindberg, CEO of Skellefteå Airport.
