Charter operator Apollo has expanded both departures and destinations from Skellefteå over the years, and for the summer season 2025, this initiative will continue by offering the Greek island of Karpathos as a charter destination. Skellefteå Airport will be one of the few regional airports in Sweden that can offer flights to Karpathos, and thus also unique in northern Sweden.
In 2023, the charter company Apollo started charter flights to the Greek mainland Epirus directly from Skellefteå Airport. The outcome was a complete success and now Apollo has decided to continue with charter flights to Epirus but also expand the destination range with the new destination Karpathos. Skellefteå Airport will be one of the few regional airports in Sweden to be able to offer charter flights to Karpathos, which is located between Crete and Rhodes.
– We are so happy that Apollo continues to develop the charter offer from Skellefteå. The Greek mainland Epirus with Lefkas, Parga and Sivota are very popular destinations, and being able to offer a new unique destination to travelers from Northern Sweden is very gratifying. Karpathos offers beautiful nature, good food and magical beaches, so we are happy to be able to offer this fine destination from Skellefteå, says Skellefteå Airport's CEO Robert Lindberg.
– Apollo chooses to continue investing in a growing Skellefteå. As the population grows, the need for holiday travel also increases, and we are therefore pleased to be able to offer Karpathos from yet another regional airport. Karpathos broadens our range and will certainly become a very popular destination from northern Sweden, says Martina Krantz, press officer at Apollo.
Karpathos has a beautiful hilly landscape with high mountains and valleys, and there are several fantastic lookout points. The island has a genuine Greek atmosphere, the food is good, the beaches are wonderful and the sea is absolutely lovely blue and crystal clear. The fact that Karpathos has a long and exciting history means that there are also many attractions.
To all destinations, Apollo will also offer its senior concept Apollo Silver, which is aimed at travelers +55 years of age and involves customized trips with a high level of choice and quality.
The trips to Lefkada and Parga will start on May 5, 2025 and continue until June 9, 2025.
Trips to Karpathos will start on August 14, 2025 and run until September 25, 2025.
All trips are bookable.
