Norwegian now announces that the route between Skellefteå and Arlanda will not continue after January 11, 2019. Customers who have booked tickets after that date are urged to contact the company.
Norwegian began operating services to Skellefteå in March 2017. In June 2018, they announced that they had chosen to cut the number of departures in the timetable from September 1. Now the company is announcing that the route will not continue next year.
– Unfortunately, the route between Arlanda and Skellefteå will not continue after January 10 next year. The reason for this is due to a combination of aviation taxes and the route not being profitable enough. We obviously find it very disappointing that we cannot maintain the route and regret it and that it affects passengers who have appreciated being able to fly cheaply, comfortably and fuel-efficiently with Norwegian between Stockholm and Skellefteå. However, it is important to emphasize that we are continuously evaluating our route network and that the route may be resumed in the future, says Charlotte Holmbergh Jacobsson, Head of Information, Norwegian.
– With the confidence in the future that prevails in Skellefteå, it is of course extremely sad that Norwegian is leaving us. At the same time, we must understand that they cannot operate an unprofitable route, says Jeanette Morén, acting CEO, Skellefteå Airport.
