The Skellefteå region is being hit very hard by the ongoing SAS strike, as residents and businesses are being cut off from the outside world. As a result, Skellefteå Airport has been working intensively in recent days to try to find other flight options for its stranded travelers.
Late last night it became clear that Direktflyg will be flying between Skellefteå Airport and Stockholm Arlanda from Sunday evening. The flights will begin on Sunday, April 28th with a departure from Arlanda to Skellefteå and continue until Tuesday morning with a departure to Stockholm Arlanda. The flights are planned to continue until April 30th, but this will of course depend on the ongoing strike.
The Swedish airline Direktflyg will operate the route. Trips are booked via direktflyg.se 0770 – 790 700 or via one of the local travel agencies. At Arlanda, flights depart from Terminal 3. The aircraft Direktflyg uses is from the Swedish airline Amapola and is a Fokker 50 with space for 50 passengers. Regarding cancellation rules for purchased SAS tickets, please refer to sas.se

Robert Lindberg, CEO, Skellefteå Airport says:
–The Skellefteå region is experiencing strong growth and at the same time we are dependent on air as a means of transport because we lack other options to reach the capital within reasonable times. This, combined with the fact that we are currently only served by SAS on domestic flights, means that we are cut off from the outside world.
-When we received signals about the spread of the strike, we began active work to find compensation opportunities during the strike. This has now yielded results as Direktflyg will begin flying between Skellefteå and Arlanda starting Sunday.
-It is extremely difficult to come up with a solution at such short notice, which is why we are especially happy today to have succeeded and in this way be able to help our region.
